This week Apple informed about commitments from some of it suppliers on the use of renewable energy. In the press release it was mentioned that ECCO Leather, as Apples’ first soft goods supplier, had committed to 100 percent clean energy for its Apple production. It was also specified that the leather is of European origin, with tanning and cutting occurring at ECCOs own tanneries in the Netherlands and China.
“We are going to keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible with the materials in our products, the way we recycle them, our facilities and our work with suppliers to establish new creative and forwards-looking sources of renewable energy because we know the future depends on it,” says Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
